Updates to approved ingredient list and conditions to include fully finished and retail packaged

Effective from 10 January 2023

On 10 January 2023, the department updated BICON case content for 'Baits, lures, attractants and poisons for agricultural or domestic use’.

Updates included:

  1. The department’s list of approved ingredients has been updated to the List of approved ingredients for good with an environmental end use.
  2. New case content for baits, lures, attractants and poisons that are fully finished and retail packaged.

This content relates to goods that only contain ingredients of biological origin listed on the department’s List of approved ingredients for good with an environmental end use.

Importers are now able to apply for a standard import permit for these goods.

Background:
The department has conducted a review and determined these goods require an import permit to align with the current Biosecurity (Conditionally Non-Prohibited Goods) Determination 2021.

Who does this notice affect:

Departmental staff and Australian importers of baits, lures, attractants and poisons for agricultural or domestic use.
