Changes to retorted goods for human consumption

Effective from 21 June 2022

The department has made changes to the pathway names within the BICON case for retorted goods to make it easier to determine which pathway best suits the goods being imported.

Information has been added for importers of goods that are manufactured in and exported from New Zealand but contain animal material sourced from countries other than Australia or New Zealand. An import permit is required for these goods.

There have not been any changes to import conditions.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of retorted goods from New Zealand, Assessment Services Group, Pathway Operations Cargo – Assessment and Inspections, Client Contact Group.
