New case created: Dried capsicum or chilli (whole, crushed or ground) for human consumption

Effective from 28 April 2022

The existing import conditions for whole, crushed or ground dried capsicums and chillies have been consolidated into a single BICON case. These conditions were previously housed in the 'Dried vegetables for human consumption' and 'Powdered herbs for human consumption' BICON cases.

The following change has been made to the import conditions:

The requirement for a phytosanitary certificate has been removed for crushed or ground chillies/capsicum that are:

  • commercially prepared and packed in bags less than or equal to 25kg; and
  • exported from khapra beetle target risk countries.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of dried capsicum and chilli products and other stakeholders in the import and shipping sectors.
