Changes

Additional vectors for standard laboratory microorganisms and infectious agents (and derivatives)

Effective from 15 April 2022

Import conditions have been updated to include additional viral vectors that are commonly used in laboratories. The case change will allow for the import of specific polyhedrin negative strains of baculoviruses Autographa californica Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus (AcNPV) and Bombyx mori Nucleopolyhedrosis Virus (BmNPV), which previously would have required a non-standard permit application.

The vectors may now be imported containing genetic material, as outlined by the standard permit conditions, or imported within standard laboratory microorganisms and infectious agents.

The department will not be amending current active import permits. Permit holders can apply to vary their current import permit via their BICON account (fees apply).
