Recommencement of the import pathway for Hibiscus cannabinus seed for sowing

Effective from 16 July 2022

The department has now re-established the Hibiscus cannabinus seed for sowing pathway.

All imported Hibiscus cannabinus seed for sowing will require an import permit, onshore fungicide treatment followed by post entry quarantine growth at a class 5.24 or 6.1 approved arrangement site for disease screening.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of Hibiscus cannabinus seed for sowing, brokers and departmental staff.

Import permits:
Importers intending on importing Hibiscus cannabinus seed for sowing will need to apply for an import permit. To apply for an import permit, complete an application using the ‘Apply Now’ button at the bottom of the BICON case.
