Human therapeutics and medicines

Effective from 25 January 2022

The department has made changes to the BICON case for human therapeutics and medicines. Import conditions have not been changed.

Commercial imports of test kits:
Additional information has been provided in the BICON commodity case for human therapeutics and medicines directing importers who wish to import commercial consignments of test kits, including COVID-19 rapid antigen tests (RATs), to refer to the BICON commodity case 'Test kits'.

Personal imports of test kits for human therapeutic use only:
COVID-19 RATs can be imported for personal use provided the relevant import conditions can be met.

A link to the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods' list of COVID-19 RATs approved for use in Australia has been provided.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of human therapeutics and medicines, importers of test kits, Client Contact Group Canberra and Pathway Operations Cargo – Assessment and Inspections.
