Medium risk plants for use as nursery stock

Effective from 9 May 2019

Weed Risk Assessment for Ptisana salicina

The department has completed a Weed Risk Assessment and Disease Risk Assessment on Ptisana salicina. As a result, Ptisana salicina has been added as permitted species to the BICON case ‘Medium risk plants for use as nursery stock’.

Who does this notice affect:

Importers of Ptisana salicina for use as nursery stock, Assessment Services Group and Inspection Services Group.

Background:

The Weed Risk Assessment system is a science-based quarantine risk analysis tool for determining the weed potential of a plant. All plants proposed for importation into Australia and not currently permitted on BICON are assessed for their potential to become weeds in Australia. Further information on the Weed Risk Assessment system is available on the department’s website.

Ptisana salicina is now permitted entry into Australian territory, subject to the conditions listed in BICON case ‘Medium risk plants for use as nursery stock’.
