Medium risk plants for use as nursery stock

Effective from 2 November 2019

Stephania erecta has been added to the ‘Medium risk plants for use as nursery stock’ case.

Who does this notice affect:

Importers of medium risk plants for nursery stock, Assessment Services Group, and Inspections Group.

Background:

Stephania erecta is now permitted entry into Australian territory, subject to the conditions under the ‘Medium risk plants for use as nursery stock’ BICON case. This addition follows a departmental assessment which found that this species does not pose a weed risk to Australia. This BICON case has been deemed adequate to address the risks of pests and pathogens of biosecurity concern entering Australia in association with Stephania erecta nursery stock.
