Capsicum spp. (requiring testing) seed for sowing

Effective from 1 April 2019

This case has been changed to incorporate phase 2 and 3 of the emergency measures for Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV).

In addition to existing testing requirements, the seed must be tested for ToBRFV.

Seed tested between midnight 31 March 2019 and midnight preceding 15 April 2019 will be subject to mandatory testing by either:

  • Option 1: Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for ToBRFV on a minimum sample of 20,000 seeds (or 20% of small seed lots); OR

  • Option 2: PCR testing using a department approved protocol for ToBRFV on a minimum sample of 20,000 seeds (or 20% of small seed lots).

Seed tested from midnight preceding 15 April 2019 will be subject to mandatory testing by PCR testing using a department approved protocol for ToBRFV on a minimum sample of 20,000 seeds (or 20% of small seed lots).
