Highly refined organic chemicals and substances

Effective from 21 December 2017

What has changed?


The Biosecurity (Prohibited and Conditionally Non-Prohibited Goods) Determination 2016 has been amended to clarify which goods may be imported as a highly refined organic chemical and substance. These goods may be imported into Australia without requiring an import permit providing they are not consumed by animals, not used as a bioremedial agent or fertiliser, or for veterinary therapeutic use. The legislative changes are effective from 21 December 2017.

The BICON case for ‘Highly refined organic chemical and substances’ has been amended accordingly. No other changes have been made to the import conditions.

This Change applies to the following Cases:
