Changes

Camellia spp. for use as nursery stock

Effective from 19 May 2021

Following reports on the detections of sudden oak death (Phytophthora ramorum) in Argentina and Japan, these countries are now considered high risk sudden oak death countries for nursery stock (which includes unrooted cuttings, tissue culture, rooted plants without foliage).

All affected nursery stock host species from Argentina and Japan now require additional biosecurity measures to align with other countries where the Phytophthora complex is present.

These measures include growth and disease screening/testing at the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment post entry quarantine facility, Mickleham, VIC.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of nursery stock, customs brokers and departmental staff.
