Changes

Plant species that are weeds

Effective from 24 February 2021

Following a review of species listed in BICON, the following species have been removed from the BICON case ‘Plant species that are weeds’:

  • Acaena adscendens
  • Acaena affinis
  • Acaena magellanica
  • Dactylis maritima

Acaena magellanica is present in Australia and not under official control. This species (and its two synonyms Acaena adscendens and Acaena affinis) are therefore permitted. As a result, this species may be permitted entry into Australian territory subject to the conditions under the applicable BICON cases.

Actaea elata is a synonym of a permitted species Cimicifuga foetida and Dactylis maritima has been removed as it is an illegitimate name.

No other changes have been made to import conditions for plant species that are weeds.
