Plant species that are weeds

Effective from 3 June 2020

Vachellia tortilis has been added to the ‘Plant species that are weeds’ BICON case. As a result, V. tortilis is not permitted entry into Australian territory as imported seed for sowing and nursery stock.

Who does this notice affect:

Importers of seed and nursery stock, Assessment Services Group and Inspections Group.

Background:

Vachellia tortilis is a synonym of Acacia tortilis, which is already a listed species within the ‘Plant species that are weeds’ BICON case.
