Changes to the BICON commodity case for Enzymes

Effective from 4 May 2021

The department has finalised a review of Enzymes. As a result of the review some changes have been made. These changes include:

  • Simplifying the BICON pathway.
  • A new pathway has been developed for environmental or industrial use, use in bioremediation agents, fertilisers, and baits.
  • The Standard permit for bulk enzymes: has been split into two standard permits to better address the higher biosecurity risk of environmental use of enzymes:

    1. Purified bulk enzymes for all uses other than:
animal consumption, or use as bioremediation agents or fertiliser, or growing purposes, or veterinary therapeutic use, or veterinary vaccine manufacture.

    2. Purified bulk enzymes for environmental use:
including bioremediation agents, cleaning agents, fertilisers, goods for environmental & industrial uses, and baits, lures, attractants, and poisons for agricultural and domestic use.

Who does this notice affect:
All importers of Enzymes; Assessment Services Group; Client Contact Group.
