Raw seed

Effective from 6 April 2017

The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has made changes to the permitted seed for sowing case.


What is the change?

Following a change in risk identified in Apiaceous seeds, Apium graveolens (celery/celeriac), Petroselinum crispum (parsley) and Pastinaca sativa (parsnip) seed, including associated synonyms, have been removed from the BICON case: 'Raw seed for human consumption' and moved to the following new BICON case: 'Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum hosts seeds for human consumption'


The following species now require mandatory testing or treatment to manage the risk for the bacterial pathogen Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum:

  • Apium crispum

  • Apium graveolens

  • Apium graveolens cv. secalinum

  • Apium graveolens var. dulce

  • Apium graveolens var. rapaceeum

  • Apium graveolens var. rapaceum

  • Apium graveolens var. secalinum

  • Apium petroselinum

  • Carum petroselinum

  • Pastinaca sativa

  • Pastinaca sativa subsp. sativa

  • Pastinaca sativa subsp. urens

  • Petroselinum crispum

  • Petroselinum crispum var. neapolitanum

  • Petroselinum crispum var. tuberosum

  • Petroselinum hortense

  • Petroselinum sativum

  • Petroselinum vulgare
