Effective from 17 January 2018

What has changed?

The table of Highly Processed Wooden Articles was amended to include the following items:

  • Tank Staves used for alcohol production

  • Dowling in manufactured articles

  • Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL)

  • Articles used to play musical instruments

  • Balsa wood

In addition, the item previously listed as ‘Wine barrels for alcohol production excluding barrels containing chestnut bark hoops’ has been changed to ‘Wooden barrels for alcohol production excluding barrels containing chestnut bark hoops’.

These changes mean that these goods are considered to have an acceptable level of biosecurity risk and that importers will now only need to provide require evidence that the product being imported is a Highly Processed Wooden Article. This evidence must be presented on a Manufacturer's declaration, Commercial invoice or Supplier declaration.
