Pig meat

Effective from 17 November 2020

The BICON case 'Pig meat' has been updated to highlight the following new import pathways:

  • cooked pig meat – sourced from Canada, cooked in and exported from New Zealand
  • cooked pig meat – sourced from Denmark, cooked in and exported from New Zealand
  • cooked pig meat – sourced from and cooked in Denmark, exported from Great Britain.

To submit an application, importers must follow the BICON questions, select ‘Country of origin differs to country of export’ and submit a non-standard application.

Import conditions will be based on those described for each of the countries involved (e.g. Canada and New Zealand) and will reflect recently negotiated health certifications from these countries.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of cooked pig meat, Assessment Services Group and Client Contact Group Canberra.
