Changes

Fresh oranges for human consumption

Effective from 9 August 2019

The department is incorporating a number of fresh produce commodities onto the Compliance-based Intervention Scheme (CBIS).

Who does this notice affect?
Importers of fresh oranges from the United States, Inspections group, Assessment services group.

The following commodities have been scoped for addition:

  1. Fresh eligible stone fruit and cherries from New Zealand

  2. Fresh capsicum and peppers from New Zealand

  3. Fresh oranges from the United States

  4. Fresh immature coconuts (all countries)

Background:
The changes have been enabled by a range of system enhancements in the Home Affairs and Agricultural Import Management Systems, utilising the AQIS Commodity Code (ACC). The new change may require you to lodge some fresh produce commodities with a specified ACC code in order for the commodity to be processed by the system.

Please note that where an ACC code is specified that failure to lodge the consignments with a code may result in your entry remaining unprocessed by the system and may require you to amend the entry in the Integrated Cargo System (ICS).

Additional information, including a list of ACC codes will be published on the departments CBIS webpage (http://www.agriculture.gov.au/import/goods/plant-products/risk-return). The information will also be specified in the relevant BICON cases.
