Goat embryos
Effective from 22 June 2021The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment has revised the import conditions for goat embryos.
- The import conditions for goat embryos from permitted countries have changed.
- The department has approved the addition of 2.4% Prevail as an option for disinfection of shipping container/tanks used to import ruminant reproductive material.
Who does this notice affect:
Importers of goat embryos, Veterinary and Export Meat Group.
Background:
The department has determined that the disinfectant ‘Prevail’ (accelerated hydrogen peroxide at dilution ratio 1:40 or 2.4%) for shipping container/tank disinfection is an acceptable alternative to the current approved options of 2% available chlorine (e.g. chlorine bleach), 2% Virkon or irradiation at 50 kGy.
