Changes

Pistacia spp. for use as nursery stock

Effective from 31 January 2019

This new BICON case has been created following a review of the import conditions for Pistacia spp. nursery stock. Pistacia spp. has been moved to this new BICON case from the case ‘Tropical and temperate species that are hosts of Xylella fastidiosa for use as nursery stock’.

The form of imported Pistacia spp. nursery stock will now be restricted to only budwood less than one year old, to be budded onto locally grown rootstock. This is being implemented to reduce the risk of fungal infection.

Two additional mandatory PCR tests for phytoplasmas and Citrus bark cracking virioid are now required while the plant material is in post-entry quarantine at the government facility in Mickleham, Victoria.

Who does this notice affect?
