This notice is to advise of the inclusion of a new species of freshwater ornamental fish approved for import, Glossolepis leggetti (Leggett’s rainbow fish).

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of live freshwater ornamental fish and Inspections Group.

Background:
The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment has undertaken an assessment of Glossolepis leggetti (Leggett’s rainbow fish) and approved this species for live import to Australia. As such the department has determined that biosecurity risks associated with this species can be managed under the current freshwater ornamental fish import permit conditions and will add Glossolepis leggetti to the list of permitted species effective from Wednesday 23rd December 2020.
