Birdseed

Effective from 17 November 2020

The following scientific names are no longer considered to be permitted seed from New Zealand, as these species have been identified through a departmental assessment as a host of Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum, a pathogen of biosecurity concern for Australia. If this species is imported as birdseed, consignments will require mandatory treatment to ensure that the seed is devitalised prior to release from biosecurity control.

  • Anthriscus longirostris
  • Foeniculum vulgare
  • Scandix cerefolium
  • Pastinaca urens

No other changes have been made to import conditions for birdseed.

Importers of birdseed, customs brokers and departmental staff.
