Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum and Xylella fastidiosa hosts for use as nursery stock

Effective from 21 December 2018

As a result of a review of the import conditions of hosts of the plant pathogen Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum, import conditions have changed for plants that are hosts of Xylella fastidiosa and Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum.

Who does this notice affect

Importers of nursery stock, Inspection Services Group and Assessment Services Group.

Background

Spain is now considered a country free from Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum haplotypes affecting Solanaceae.

El Salvador and Nicaragua are no longer considered to be free from Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum haplotypes affecting Solanaceae.

In addition to current import conditions, phytosanitary declarations from countries considered to be free from Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum haplotypes affecting Solanaceae can include a declaration stating tissue cultures were tested and found free of Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum, in place of the country freedom declaration.

It is anticipated that all current import permit holders will receive an updated import permit by the end of January 2019.
