BMSB 2021-2022 seasonal measures

Effective from 31 August 2021

This case outlines the seasonal measures that apply to certain goods manufactured in or shipped from, target risk countries as sea cargo to manage the risk of Brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) contamination. These goods must meet import requirements if they are shipped between 1 September 2021 and 30 April 2022 (inclusive).

The BMSB measures are in addition to existing import requirements for goods. You are still required to refer to the relevant BICON commodity case for commodity specific import conditions (if applicable).

  • Target risk countries have been expanded from 36 countries to 37 countries with the inclusion of Poland. Japan is only subject to heightened surveillance measures.
  • Treatment rates and target risk countries continue to align with New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industries.
