Effective from 13 November 2018

Removal of Belgium from the country of origin list for uncooked pig meat.

Who does this notice effect:
Importers of uncooked pig meat from Belgium.
Background:
On 14 September 2018, the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources received notification from the European Commission of an outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the wild boar population of Belgium. As a result of the outbreak of ASF, uncooked pig meat sourced from Belgium, will no longer meet import requirements and are considered to pose a high biosecurity risk.
