Changes

Non-viable animal reproductive material

Effective from 9 February 2019

The department has made changes to the permit cases for non-viable animal reproductive material for in vitro and in vivo in laboratory organisms only.

Terminology in the end use restrictions has been amended to clarify that imported non-viable animal reproductive material, for in vitro and in vivo in laboratory organisms only, is prohibited for both artificial insemination (AI) and assisted reproductive treatment (ART) purposes.

Who does this notice affect:

Importers of non-viable animal reproductive material.

Background:

Current permit conditions prohibit imported non-viable animal reproductive material for all reproductive purposes, but the end use terminology used didn’t capture this correctly.
