Plant species that are weeds

Effective from 23 December 2020

Following a review of species listings in BICON, the following species have been removed from the BICON case ‘Plant species that are weeds’ but will remain in the BICON case ‘Plant species requiring further assessment’:

  • Acacia julifera
  • Acacia raddiana
  • Allium neriniflorum
  • Desmanthus pumilus
  • Senecio aconitifolius
  • Stenocactus arrigens

No other changes have been made to import conditions for 'Plant species requiring further assessment'.

Background:
The species listed above will remain in the BICON case ‘Plant species requiring further assessment’ and are currently not permitted entry because insufficient information is available on their risk status.

Who does this notice affect:
Importers of nursery stock and seeds for sowing, customs brokers and departmental staff.
