Feathers

Effective from 31 October 2020

The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department) has updated conditions in the BICON case 'Feathers'.

The term gamma irradiation has been updated to ionising irradiation. Ionising radiation include gamma irradiation.

The evidence requirements for Feathers fully contained within manufactured articles previously only allowed for a Manufacturers declaration. This has now been amended to include the following options that state the treatment applied to the feathers:

  • Government Endorsed Manufacturers Declaration; or
  • Health Certificate or Government Endorsed Manufacturers Declaration; or
  • Treatment Certificate.
