Malus spp., Pyrus spp., and Cydonia spp., for use as nursery stock
Effective from 21 February 2019Pyrus x triploida and Pyrus fauriei have been added as permitted species within the ‘Malus spp., Pyrus spp., and Cydonia spp., for use as nursery stock’ BICON case.
Who does this notice affect:
Importers of Pyrus spp. for use as nursery stock, Assessment Services Group, Inspection Services Group.
Background:
Pyrus x triploida and Pyrus fauriei are now permitted entry into Australian territory, subject to the conditions under the ‘Malus spp., Pyrus spp., and Cydonia spp., for use as nursery stock’ BICON case. These additions follow a departmental assessment which determined that this species and hybrid are already present in Australia and not under official control.
