The BICON case ‘Microalgae for Human Consumption’ has been re-named ‘Microalgae’ and now covers both human consumption and human therapeutic end uses.

A standard import permit has been developed for Microalgae capsules and tablets.
Addition of production questionnaire to the ‘Other’ pathway provides importers with the information needed to be provided with an application for a non-standard permit.
Addition of links to alternative BICON cases that may be applicable to the goods to be imported.

Importers of microalgae for human consumption and human therapeutics, Assessment Services Group, Inspections Group.

Background:
The department has finalised a review of Microalgae for human consumption use and human therapeutic use.
