Fresh asparagus for human consumption

Effective from 15 August 2019

Import conditions have been updated to reflect mandatory pre-shipment methyl bromide fumigation for fresh asparagus imported from Mexico and Peru.

The requirement commences from 15 August 2019. All other import conditions have remained unchanged.

Phytosanitary certificates for fresh asparagus from Mexico and Peru, certified from 15 August 2019, will require evidence that they have been fumigated at one of the following schedules:


Note: Fumigation is not permitted if the ambient minimum temperature falls below 10 °C.

Importers of fresh asparagus for human consumption from Mexico or Peru.
