Dried fruit

Effective from 2 August 2019

There is now a treatment requirement for non-commercially packaged dried citrus fruit imported as passenger baggage or mail.

Who does this notice affect:
Passengers bringing dried citrus fruit as baggage, or importing it through the mail.

Background:
The department has applied mandatory heat treatment for non-commercially packaged dried citrus fruit imported as passenger baggage or mail.

All non-commercially packaged dried citrus fruit imported through these pathways must now be directed for heat treatment at the importer’s expense. Untreated dried citrus fruit must be either disposed of or exported.
