Cryogenic shippers : cryogenic shippers

Effective 2 July 2019

Preferred Term: cryogenic shippers

Definition:

Cryogenic shippers use liquefied gases, such as liquid nitrogen and liquid helium, to maintain goods at extremely low temperatures for transport or other purposes (e.g. research into the properties of elements subjected to extremely low temperatures).

Goods contained in cryogenic shippers are packaged to avoid contact with the liquid gas. Therefore unless there is a breakdown of the packaging the goods do not come into direct contact with the cryogenic shipper.
