Revised import conditions for dried medicinal mushrooms for human consumption

Effective from 6 November 2018

Plant Import Operations advises some changes will be made to the Dried Medicinal Mushroom for human consumption pathway to align with conditions stated in the Biosecurity (Prohibited and Conditionally Non-prohibited Goods) Determination 2016.

Importing conditions will be revised to represent those in Section 29, 5A of the Biosecurity (Prohibited and Conditionally Non-prohibited Goods) Determination 2016.

Only the following pathway will be updated:

Dried mushrooms — Restricted medicinal species — Restricted medicinal mushrooms - Not highly processed — On-arrival treatment

The change includes an additional documentary requirement:

  1. Text will be added to the importing scenario to highlight that botanical name of the goods (including genus and species) is required for identification of Medicinal Mushrooms.

  2. A requirement for commercial documentation to be presented that will detail:

    2.1. the botanical name of the goods (including genus and species), and

    2.2. details describing the packaging of the product.
