Three new BICON cases to replace Baitfish, aquaculture and pet fish food case

Effective from 12 January 2019

The review of baitfish, aquaculture and pet fish food was recently finalised. Because of the review, some changes have been made to associated import conditions.

The ‘Baitfish, aquaculture and pet fish food’ case has split into three new cases:

  1. Bony fish and cephalopods for bait or fish food

  2. Aquaculture and aquatic meals

  3. Pet fish food

The Bony fish and cephalopods for bait and fish food case includes standard conditions for the following import scenarios:

  1. Bony fish and cephalopods from New Zealand

  2. Bony fish (other than specified species) and cephalopods from countries other than New Zealand

  3. Bony fish and cephalopods from other than New Zealand for use north of 30 °south

The Aquaculture and aquatic meals case includes standard conditions for the following import scenarios:

  1. Aquaculture feed and aquatic meals from New Zealand

  2. Aquaculture feed and aquatic meals packaged no greater than 5 kilograms

  3. Aquaculture feed and aquatic meals bulk/bagged greater than 5 kilograms

  4. Unprocessed aquaculture feed

The Pet fish food case includes standard conditions for the following import scenarios:

  1. Brine shrimp eggs

  2. Marine molluscs (other than oysters or snails)

  3. Pet fish food without microalgae and salmonid material

  4. Pet fish food without salmonid material

  5. Pet fish food with up to 2% salmonid material
