Creation of the Pig meat case

Effective from 15 September 2018

The department has created a new BICON case for “Pig meat”.

  • The “Pork (porcine)” pathway has been removed from the existing BICON case “Uncanned or unretorted meat for human consumption”.

  • The import conditions for pig meat have been placed into a new BICON case.

  • The new “Pig meat” case will include pork crackling, cooked, uncooked, and cured pig meat.

  • The import conditions have not been changed.

Please note that separate conditions apply for porcine jerky and biltong for personal use. For these products, search BICON for the relevant case using keywords such as ‘Jerky’ or ‘Biltong’.
