Regional officers, importers and brokers are advised that conditions for importing fresh (chilled or frozen) beef and beef products from Japan for human consumption are now available on the Biosecurity Import Conditions database (BICON).

An import permit must be obtained prior to importation. The import conditions can be found through the “Uncanned or unretorted meat for human consumption” case in BICON.

The importer must comply with all import conditions and the requirements of any other regulatory or advisory bodies prior to, and after, import.
