Additional pathway for Natural fibres case: commercially manufactured and fully finished products

Effective from 19 April 2018

Following a review, the Natural fibres (and their derivatives) of animal origin case has been amended to clarify the import conditions for commercially manufactured and fully finished products.

Products that are derived from animal hair, fibre or bristles (other than sheep, goats or camelids) for all uses other than human or animal grooming, animal husbandry, animal food and fertilisers now have a separate pathway in BICON. Examples of goods that are covered by this pathway may include pig-bristle paint brushes, mattresses containing horse hair, some types of musical instrument strings, and natural fibre clothing items.

The following is applicable to the new pathway:

  • An import permit is not required

  • The goods must be commercially manufactured, finished products

  • The goods may be cleared on documents confirming that the goods are commercially manufactured, fully finished products

  • Appropriate documentary evidence is available that confirms the goods are commercially manufactured, fully finished products.

Further details for the above points can be found within the new pathway in BICON.

All other conditions within the Natural fibres (and their derivatives) of animal origin case remain the same.
