Merging of 'Broken corn for human consumption' and 'Bagged corn or maize grits for processing' cases

Effective from 15 March 2018

Plant Import Operations is merging the ‘Broken corn for human consumption’ and ‘Bagged corn or maize grits for processing’ to clarify that the requirement for an import permit is related to the level of processing offshore, not the end use.

Changes are also being made to the ‘Popping corn for human consumption’ BICON case to the import scenarios for bulk maize or maize grits and popping corn from countries other than New Zealand to clarify the import requirements.

The onshore outcomes for pathways where the corn grits or kernels are being processed at an Approved Arrangement (AA) site class 3.0 are changing to include the requirement for the department to be notified when processing of each consignment is finished and waste disposal has been organised to be able to finalise the quarantine entries.
