Effective from 18 January 2018This notice is of interest to clients in the import and shipping industries, including importers and customs brokers, associated with the importation of containerised Italian goods arriving on or after 17 January 2018.

All other containerised goods from Italy will require mandatory BMSB treatment at an approved arrangement on arrival in Australian territory. Exceptions apply to goods already treated offshore with one of the approved BMSB treatments, or that fall within one of the excluded tariff groups:
Fresh produce (including nursery stock and live plants)
Live animals
Food for human consumption

Please refer to the department's website for a list of approved treatments for BMSB.
