Revised import conditions for natural casings to take effect 21 December 2017

Who does this notice affect?

Importers of casings for human consumption, customs brokers and regional officers.

What is changing?

From 2I December 2017 casings for human consumption will not require an import permit if importers can meet the import conditions published in BICON.

No other changes have been made to the import conditions.

Background

The Biosecurity (Prohibited and Conditionally Non-Prohibited Goods) Determination 2016 is currently under amendment. As a result, from 21 December 2017 certain commodities will no longer require an import permit when the specified alternative conditions are met.
