Changes to Highly Processed Wooden Articles

Effective from 17 January 2018

This alert is to inform importers and other users of BICON of immediate changes to the BICON case ‘Timber and timber products’.

What has changed?

The table of Highly Processed Wooden Articles has been amended to include the following items:

  • Zigzags used for alcohol production

  • Combs

  • Clothing related items - pegs and wall mounted hat and coat hooks. Excluding wardrobes, chest of drawers and other large storage units.

  • Craft related items – pegs

  • In addition, the item previously listed as ‘Tool and brush/broom handles’ has been changed to ‘Handles for the use of household items; including tools, hardware, buckets and brush/broom handles’.

These changes mean that these goods are considered to have an acceptable level of biosecurity risk and that importers will now only need to provide require evidence that the product being imported is a Highly Processed Wooden Article. This evidence must be presented on a Manufacturer's declaration, Commercial invoice or Supplier declaration.
