Small seed lot testing change for Apiaceous seed

Effective from 20 October 2017

What is the change?

The department has revised the policy for testing of small seed lots for Apiaceae seeds for sowing, that now provides the option of seed testing offshore.

Where testing is conducted offshore, consignments must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate stating that the seed has been tested and found free of Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum, using 20% of the seed lot by weight.

Small seed lots of 250g or less are not to be pooled into one lot for testing purposes offshore.

What does this mean for my imports?

For carrot seed (Daucus carota) current permit holders who wish to have this option included need to request a permit variation through the 'My Permit workspace' section in their BICON account, or contact the department to have their permit varied.
