Extension of trial to changes to the conditions of seed arriving via mail or as passenger baggage
Effective from 2 December 2017This alert is to notify of an extension to the trial to changes to the import conditions of seed arriving through the mail or as passenger baggage.
The trial using the permitted seed for sowing BICON case will still commence 4 December 2017 but will now run through to the end of January, with the remaining impacted BICON seed for sowing cases to be updated 1 February 2018.
What is the change?
Seed arriving through the mail and as passenger baggage will need to be appropriately identified. This can be done by any of the following:
Commercial packaging and label with the full botanical name (genus and species)
Phytosanitary certificate listing the full botanical name (genus and species)
Declaration from the supplier listing the full botanical name (genus and species)
International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) certificate listing the full botanical name (genus and species)
Naktuinbouw Authorised Laboratories (NAL) certificate listing the full botanical name (genus and species)
Seed that already requires a phytosanitary certificate, mandatory ISTA testing or mandatory post-entry quarantine growth will be exempt from this requirement.
