Effective from 7 September 2016

The department advises regional officers, importers and customs brokers that conditions for fresh cut flowers/foliage of Chrysanthemum spp. and Rosa spp. have been changed and updated.

From 6 September 2016 cut flowers/foliage of Chrysanthemum spp. from all countries other than Indonesia, Colombia, Israel, Malaysia, Netherlands, Republic of South Africa, Vietnam, Zimbabwe and India can be imported into Australia subject to an import permit.

From 6 September 2016 cut flowers/foliage of Rosa spp. from Canada, USA and European countries can be imported into Australia subject to an import permit.

The import permit requirement is an interim measure to facilitate trade until a legislative process has been completed that will allow this requirement for an import permit for the importation of Chrysanthemum spp. and Rosa spp. from specific countries to be removed.

It is the importer’s responsibility to identify and ensure it has complied with all requirements of any other regulatory and advisory bodies prior to and after importation.
