Additional treatment option for fresh mangoes from India

Effective from 7 October 2016

Regional officers, importers and brokers are advised that the conditions for importing fresh mango fruit from India have been expanded to include irradiation as an option. Fruit that has been irradiated is permitted from all states in India. The import conditions for irradiated fresh mango fruit are now available on BICON.

It is the importer’s responsibility to identify and ensure it has complied with all requirements of any other regulatory and advisory bodies prior to and after importation.

Each consignment must be accompanied by a valid import permit and an official government phytosanitary certificate.

Importers are reminded that an import permit must be obtained prior to importation.
