Bovine dairy products from countries not approved by the department as FMD-free

Effective from 9 February 2016

The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has finalised its policy review on the importation of bovine dairy products from countries not approved by the department as FMD-free. The outcome of this review includes new conditions that will be applied to products manufactured in Malaysia.

Any new company or facility in Malaysia interested in importing products under this policy should email imports@agriculture.gov.au for a copy of the new conditions and to apply for a desk audit.

A site audit will also be required and this may be undertaken in conjunction with Malaysia’s country evaluation if the desk audit has been successfully completed. Import permits will only be issued for new companies or new facilities once the country evaluation has been completed and new health certificates negotiated.
