Kingdom of Saudi Arabia competent authority change for the export of feed products to Australia

Effective from 15 December 2015

The Aquaculture Department of the Ministry of Agriculture (ADMA) has transferred feed export responsibilities to Feed Sector of the Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA). The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources now formally recognises SFDA as the competent authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the export of feed product to Australia. Many importers will have the ADMA listed on their valid import permits. Goods imported under such import permits may be cleared with documentation from SFDA provided all certification requirements as detailed on the import permit are met in their entirety.

The list of competent authorities in BICON has been updated to reflect this change. Import permits for animal feeds of aquatic origin will now be issued identifying competent authorities for Saudi Arabia as:

  1. Feed Sector of the Saudi Food & Drug Authority; and

  2. General Directorate of Laboratories and Quality Control at the Ministry of Commerce.
