Changed conditions for Timber and timber mouldings and Wooden manufactured articles

Effective from 11 December 2015

Plant Import Operations has recently updated the BICON cases for Timber and Timber Mouldings and Wooden Manufactured Articles so that inspection can be used as one of the on-shore risk mitigation measure.

These changes are made to align with the Timber and Timber dunnage case (Changed conditions for timber packaging and dunnage) and have also been reflected in the AEP POD.

The following cases have been changed to include inspection as an onshore treatment option.

- Timber packaging and dunnage - all countries (updated previously on 24/02/2015)

- Timber and timber mouldings – all countries excluding Canada, Chile, New Zealand and the USA

- Wooden articles manufactured – all countries.

What do I need to do?

Importers and brokers should continue to lodge their documents as per current practices.

It is the importers’/brokers’ responsibility to ensure that their commodity and timber packaging meets import requirements.

What does this mean for my timber consignments?

If you wish to manage the risk for timber and timber mouldings and wooden articles manufactured on-shore you may have it sent for a full unpack and inspection as an alternative for mandatory treatment. Before opting for inspection importers should consider the cost associated with a full unpack and inspection as inspection fees apply.
