Transition to referencing the Australian Centre for Disease Control on import permits

Effective from 6 June 2024

The interim Australian Centre for Disease Control (CDC) was launched within the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care on 1 January 2024. Further information on the interim Australian CDC is available on its website.

Pending commencement of a fully established Australian CDC, previously issued import permits for affected commodities will continue to refer to the Department of Health and Aged Care in the permit conditions. Following its commencement, new import permits for affected commodities may then refer to the Australian Centre for Disease Control in the permit conditions, instead of the Department of Health and Aged Care.

Existing permit holders and any new import permit applicants are not required to take any action.

Importers will be notified when further detail is available on the commencement of the fully established Australian CDC.
